The Mission Statement and Ethos of Gorey ETSS will be developed over the course of the Academic year 2021-22, and will be informed by the participation of staff, students, parents and Board of management.
Both the Ethos, Vision and Mission will be guided by four core principles as laid down in the Educate Together Charter (1990):
Gorey ETSS will
1) be multi-denominational in character, ensuring that children and young people of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds have equal access to and rights within the school;
2) be co-educational, thereby encouraging children and young people to learn and live together;
3) be child-centred, respecting individual students’ abilities to learn in unique ways;
4) be run on a democratic basis, encouraging active participation by parents and students in the daily life of the school whilst positively affirming the professional role of the teachers.
An essential part of the Ethos, Vision and Mission Statement of Gorey Educate Together Secondary School will be to promote the fullest participation by parents, students and teachers in decision-making processes and to promote a genuine creative partnership between parental involvement and the professional role of the teachers. There will be a shared vision, a shared purpose and shared values.
